Add-On: Citric Acid

$5.00

Give your freshly etched pieces a quick glow-up. Citric acid is a gentle, low-odor way to remove oxide and heat tint from copper and brass after your salt-water etch—perfect for home studios and classrooms.

What you’re getting

  • Pre-measured 3 tablespoon packs in labeled sachets.

How to use (pickle bath)

  1. In a glass or plastic container, dissolve 1 tbsp citric acid in 1 cup hot water (≈ 1:16 by weight).

  2. Submerge your etched metal (avoid steel tools).

  3. Soak 5–10 minutes, agitating occasionally, until bright.

  4. Rinse well, dry, and proceed to finishing (patina, seal, etc.).

Tips

  • Warm solution works faster; refresh if it gets cloudy or slow.

  • Use plastic/titanium/copper tongs—skip steel in the bath.

  • Store mixed solution covered and clearly labeled; refresh as needed.

Safety & disposal

  • Do not ingest. Food-grade material used for metal cleaning only.

  • Wear gloves/eye protection; avoid contact with eyes and skin.

  • Never mix with bleach or cleaners containing hypochlorite.

  • To dispose: slowly neutralize with baking soda until fizzing stops, dilute with plenty of water, then drain per local guidance.

Shipping

  • Ships with your kit (no extra shipping charge when combined).

  • Remember: kits are made to order (~2-week production) before 3-day shipping.

Add to your kit pages (quick copy for CORE/PRO descriptions)

Optional Add-On: Citric Acid (by the tablespoon) — gentle pickle to brighten copper/brass after etch. 1 tbsp per cup hot water. (Food-grade; not for consumption.) Variants: 1 tbsp / 3 tbsp / 6 tbsp.
